About CoinConnect
Organization & Story

CoinConnect is a legal and regulatory group in Karachi, Pakistan that helps foreign crypto exchanges and VASPs enter the Pakistani market. It has worked this market since 2022 and was incorporated in May 2025 as COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, SECP No. 0294969. Services cover PVARA licensing under the Virtual Assets Act 2026, SECP incorporation, FMU goAML registration and market launch.

Our Story

How Long Has CoinConnect Been Operating?

CoinConnect began operating in 2022, built to solve a problem our founder faced firsthand while working inside global exchanges: Pakistan is one of the world's largest crypto markets, yet no dedicated organization existed to help blockchain companies enter it compliantly.

We started by delivering results, not paperwork — PR, business development and community growth for Bybit, CoinEx and BingX across Pakistan, the Philippines and Bangladesh. Those years taught us exactly where global teams get stuck: regulatory uncertainty, local incorporation complexity, and the absence of anyone on the ground who is actually accountable for the outcome.

When Pakistan's regulatory framework arrived — the Virtual Assets Ordinance 2025, the creation of PVARA, and then the Virtual Assets Act 2026 — informal operating stopped being good enough for the work we wanted to do. Regulatory advisory requires a counterparty that regulators, banks and Tier-1 exchanges can contract with and hold liable. So on 16 May 2025 we incorporated formally as COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED under the Companies Act 2017, with SECP and FBR registration.

Today CoinConnect combines regulatory licensing advisory, corporate structuring, tax and compliance and market launch execution — delivered by a 28-person in-house legal and regulatory team, with a compliance-infrastructure product line in development.

You don't have to take the full journey to work with us. If you are already operating and only need the regulatory piece, CoinConnect is the premium choice for licence-only and NOC-only engagements — delivered to the same standard as our full market-entry programme.

Company Timeline

From Operating Team to Registered Group

Two dates matter when you assess a Pakistani adviser: how long they have actually worked the market, and when they became an entity you can contract with. Here are both.

  1. 2022

    CoinConnect Begins Operating

Founded as a specialist crypto PR and business-development team serving global exchanges in Pakistan. Early work covered community growth, KOL partnerships and on-ground activation — building the local network the business still runs on.

  2. 2022 – 2024

    Multi-Country Exchange Operations

PR and BD delivery for Bybit, CoinEx and BingX across Pakistan, the Philippines and Bangladesh. 25+ events executed and communities built across five Pakistani cities.

  3. 16 May 2025

    Formal Incorporation

Incorporated as COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED under the Companies Act 2017 — SECP Incorporation No. 0294969, FBR Registration No. G699950, registered office in Karachi. Regulatory advisory requires a counterparty that regulators and Tier-1 exchanges can contract with.

  4. Jul 2025

PVARA Established — Pivot to Regulatory Advisory

The Virtual Assets Ordinance 2025 created PVARA as Pakistan's dedicated regulator. CoinConnect built out its in-house legal capability around the NOC and VASP licensing lifecycle under the No Objection Certificate Regulations 2025.

  5. 2026

Virtual Assets Act 2026 & Compliance Infrastructure

With the Act passed by the National Assembly and the licensing framework live, CoinConnect added a compliance infrastructure product line — VASP tax data conversion for FBR reporting, withholding tax automation and NADRA-linked KYC verification — currently in development.

What Does CoinConnect Actually Do?

Six disciplines under a single registered entity — so you don't have to coordinate multiple vendors, and one team is accountable for the outcome.

Market Entry & Growth

KOL network activation, community building, PR, event management and local partnerships — built inside the marketing limits of Section 43 of the Virtual Assets Act 2026, which restricts advertising a virtual asset whose Issuer is unlicensed.

Banking & Treasury

Introductions to Pakistani banking partners, documentation support for corporate account opening, and liaison with the State Bank of Pakistan on payment-system questions.

Market Drivers

Massive Unbanked Population

Only ~21% of adults have bank accounts — crypto offers real financial inclusion, an outcome Section 9(1)(d) of the Virtual Assets Act 2026 names as a regulatory objective.

$30B+ Annual Remittance Market

A natural use case for cross-border crypto and the Transfer & Settlement licence category under Schedule I of the Act.

Young, Tech-Savvy Demographics

~60% under 30 with high smartphone use and growing digital literacy.

Statutory Invitation to Invest

Section 9(1)(c) of the Act makes it a formal objective of the regulator to attract investment and encourage virtual asset companies to base their business in Pakistan.

Regulatory Landscape

PVARA Now Operational

Established under Section 6 of the Virtual Assets Act 2026, with a 60-calendar-day NOC decision deadline under Regulation 17.1 of the NOC Regulations 2025.

Four Services Open Pre-Licence

Regulation 2.3 of the NOC Regulations 2025 permits Exchange, Broker-Dealer, Custody and Derivatives services on an NOC plus goAML registration, ahead of full licensing.

FATF-Aligned Framework

Section 46 of the Act deems licensed VASPs financial institutions under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010, with Travel Rule and goAML obligations.

Few NOCs Reported To Date Media Reports

Binance and HTX have been reported in media as NOC recipients. PVARA publishes no NOC holders list, so the true count is unconfirmed — but the window is clearly still early.

About CoinConnect

Questions About Who We Are

The due-diligence questions exchanges and their counsel ask before engaging a Pakistani adviser — answered with verifiable references.

How long has CoinConnect been operating?
CoinConnect has operated in Pakistan's crypto market since 2022, initially delivering public relations, business development and community growth for global exchanges across Pakistan, the Philippines and Bangladesh. As Pakistan's regulatory framework matured, the business was formally incorporated on 16 May 2025 as COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. Two dates matter when assessing a Pakistani adviser: operating since 2022, and incorporated since 2025.
Is CoinConnect a registered company in Pakistan?
Yes. CoinConnect is incorporated as COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED under the Companies Act 2017 (XIX of 2017), with SECP Incorporation Number 0294969 and FBR National Tax Number G699950, incorporated on 16 May 2025. The registered office is Office 128/A, Street 6, Sector I, Mehmoodabad, Karachi. The incorporation is publicly verifiable through the SECP LEAP portal without contacting CoinConnect.
Why does CoinConnect say it operates since 2022 but was incorporated in 2025?
Both statements are accurate and describe different things. CoinConnect began operating in Pakistan's crypto market in 2022, delivering public relations, business development and community growth for global exchanges. The business was formally incorporated on 16 May 2025 as Pakistan's regulatory framework matured, because regulatory advisory work requires a legal entity that regulators, banks and Tier-1 exchanges can contract with and hold liable. The incorporation formalised an operating business; it did not start one.
How is CoinConnect structured?
COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED is the parent company, a Single Member Company incorporated in Karachi under the Companies Act 2017. Advisory work is delivered by a 28-person in-house legal and regulatory team covering licensing, corporate structuring, AML/CFT compliance, due diligence and market entry. CoinConnect RegTech is a separate division building compliance infrastructure products, currently in development and not yet generally available.
Who founded CoinConnect?
CoinConnect was founded by Malik Abbas, who serves as Founder and Chief Executive Officer. The founding team came from inside global crypto exchange operations, having run public relations and business development across Pakistan, the Philippines and Bangladesh before establishing CoinConnect as a dedicated market entry organization.
Where is CoinConnect based?
Karachi, Pakistan, at Office 128/A, Street 6, Sector I, Mehmoodabad. Operations extend nationwide, with events and partnerships delivered across Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Peshawar. Being physically on the ground matters because PVARA, SECP, FBR and FMU processes involve in-person engagement that a remote adviser cannot provide.
Which crypto exchanges has CoinConnect worked with?
CoinConnect has worked with Bybit, CoinEx and BingX. Bybit engaged CoinConnect directly for Pakistan market activation covering institutional partnerships, event production and localized content. CoinEx was title sponsor of TEDx Clifton, which CoinConnect organized as lead organizer. BingX work covered Pakistan business development. Full disclosable detail is published on our engagements page; further engagements are covered by non-disclosure agreements and are not published.
Can CoinConnect be engaged for licensing only, without the full market entry programme?
Yes. If you are already operating and only need the regulatory piece, CoinConnect takes licence-only and NOC-only engagements, delivered to the same standard as the full market entry programme. Many exchanges start there and add corporate setup, tax registration or launch support later as their Pakistan operation matures.
Does CoinConnect publish its own regulatory analysis?
Yes. CoinConnect publishes regulatory analysis on the Virtual Assets Act 2026, PVARA licensing, the Regulatory Sandbox and VASP compliance at blog.coinconnect.site, an official CoinConnect property published by COIN CONNECT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. The PVARA License & Sandbox Guide on this site provides a section-by-section reference to the Act, the No Objection Certificate Regulations 2025 and the Sandbox Guidelines 2026.

This page is for informational purposes and does not constitute legal, financial or regulatory advice. Statutory references are to three official documents: the Virtual Assets Act, 2026 (74 sections plus Schedule I, successor to the Virtual Assets Ordinance 2025); the PVARA No Objection Certificate Regulations 2025 (document code PVARA/REG/AML-REG/2025-1, effective 2 December 2025, including Annex A Forms A1–A8); and the PVARA Sandbox Guidelines 2026.

Important qualifications. FBR Rules under Section 66 of the Virtual Assets Act 2026 have not been notified, so no prescribed VASP tax reporting format currently exists in Pakistan. No published PVARA fee schedule has been located, though Sections 14(2)(h), 19(2) and 19(4)(a) of the Act contemplate fees — treat them as pending, not absent. NOC recipient information is media-reported only — PVARA maintains no public NOC-holder list, although Section 21(4) requires a public register of full Licensees. Team credentials can be evidenced on request under a mutual non-disclosure agreement, and CoinConnect's corporate registration is independently verifiable on the SECP LEAP portal.
